Ceiling Profile RFQs: Separate Metalwork from Lighting

Avoid incomplete ceiling-profile quotations. Separate extrusions, connectors, diffusers, LED strips, drivers and installation responsibilities in the RFQ.

Aluminum ceiling light-channel profiles shown in the reviewed catalog
Catalog product illustration, not a completed project. Final construction and supply scope require confirmation.

Why a profile photo is not a supply schedule

A catalog may show an illuminated channel, a ceiling junction and a finished room in the same illustration. Those images do not establish what is priced. A quotation may cover the metal extrusion alone while another includes a diffuser or connector. Before comparing totals, divide the ceiling detail into identifiable components and ask the seller to mark each as included, optional or excluded.

Define the metal profile accurately

Record the drawing reference, intended function, finish and required length. Ask for the alloy, wall thickness, weight and tolerances that apply to that exact reference. A series named for a panel thickness or ceiling arrangement is not necessarily stating the extrusion wall thickness. Decorative beam-like profiles are not structural beams; any structural use requires separate engineering evidence.

Separate the electrical package

List the LED strip, driver, diffuser, connection accessories, control requirements and wiring responsibility separately from the metalwork. Ask the electrical designer to define the required electrical specification and compliance documents. Do not infer voltage, power, light output, dimming compatibility or certification from a lit product photograph. The catalog appearance is a starting point for discussion, not a tested lighting schedule.

Count the small parts before ordering

Include internal/external corners, end caps, joiners, hanging or fixing parts and the connection to the adjacent board. Record the required quantity against each drawing. Where curtain boxes meet a ceiling profile, resolve the curtain track and access requirements. A neat front view may conceal a missing cap, incompatible board edge or inaccessible driver if the assembly has not been coordinated.

Request an itemized quotation and sample detail

Ask for separate line items and quotation units so metal length, electrical components and installation labor are not confused. Confirm cutting, finish matching, packing, samples and delivery terms. Resolve any substitution by reference and drawing revision. Keep the accepted component list with the purchase order so site teams can identify which party supplies each item.

Prepare your profile brief

Start with the ceiling profiles and trims collection, then attach the reflected ceiling plan and junction sketch. State whether you need metalwork only or a coordinated component discussion. AUTINBERG can review the inquiry scope; current availability and inclusion of electrical parts must be confirmed in writing.

Procurement questions

Are LEDs and drivers included with a light channel?

Not automatically. Confirm each component in the written quotation.

Does a 7 mm or 9 mm series name state metal wall thickness?

Do not assume so. Ask for the section drawing and the stated extrusion wall thickness for the exact reference.
