How to Schedule Aluminum Skirting at Doors and Corners

Plan aluminum skirting as a component system: face height, base, corners, caps, joins and door terminations. Keep quantities and installation assumptions explicit.

Treat the skirting as a system

A length of skirting is only one part of a finished perimeter. The reviewed catalog shows face pieces, fixing bases and junction components. For procurement, identify the face reference and the matching base before counting corners and ends. Similar color or height does not prove that components from another profile will fit. Ask for a trial assembly when compatibility is uncertain.

Choose a height with the wall layout

The catalog includes 60 mm and 80 mm skirting families. Those values describe height references; they do not establish extrusion wall thickness, stock length or weight. Compare the proposed face with the wall-panel joints, finished floor and door details. Agree the visible height in the room drawing, and keep the actual supply specification attached to the order.

Map every door termination

Mark where each skirting run stops, continues or returns at a doorway. Check which end cap is needed and whether the detail leaves a visible cut edge. Include concealed-door locations without assuming that a standard skirting can continue across a moving leaf. The door designer and installer should agree clearance and the opening relationship before the component list is finalized.

Count corners and joints separately

Measure each run and list internal corners, external corners, joining pieces and end caps as separate items. Do not hide these quantities inside a rounded perimeter estimate. Agree any cutting allowance with the installer based on the final layout and supplied lengths. There is no universal waste percentage supplied by the catalog, and this guide does not invent one.

Review the fixing base with the actual wall

The catalog illustrates a base fixed to the wall and a face clipped onto it. That sequence is a system illustration, not approval of a fastener for every substrate. Confirm substrate preparation, suitable fixings, spacing and alignment from the applicable installation detail. Check floor and wall interfaces before accepting a mock-up. Retain access where a project detail requires it.

Issue a complete schedule with the RFQ

A useful schedule names each room, run length, face height, finish, base, corner, join and end component. Add sketches at difficult doors and transitions. Confirm material finish, package identification and commercial scope before the order. Use the profiles and trims page and the installation planning checklist to prepare the inquiry.

Procurement questions

Are corners and caps included in the skirting price?

Only when the quotation explicitly includes their references and quantities.

Can the skirting height determine the fixing specification?

No. Substrate, profile construction and the approved installation detail determine the required fixings.
